Giya is a loudspeaker system like no other.
Evocative of the special spirit of our newest design and proudly symbolic of Vivid Audio’s African roots, the name Giya is derived from a classic form of Zulu dance.
Wrapped within Giya’s distinctive shell-like appearance lies an exceptional level of engineering detail and acoustic design sophistication that has become Vivid’s hallmark.
Its very shape is designed by proven acoustic principles taken to their logical conclusions, untethered by conventional wisdom and common construction techniques. Every element of Vivid’s design has been refined to an extraordinary degree. From the patented hand-built drive units, to the advanced vacuum infused composite enclosure, to the relentless elimination of resonances and reflections.
Our definition of Giya – a myriad of technical details skillfully combined to achieve a remarkable sense of sonic transparency and tonal naturalness together with a uniqueness of design forming its final appearance.
Laurence Dickie pioneered the application of tapered tube absorbers as a means to eliminate destructive resonances and reflections from within driver enclosures. All four of the driver subsystems, including the low frequency section, have benefited from the application of this technique. So we have a tapered bass enclosure coiling around to give the visually striking effect.

“I’ve heard some extremely expensive speakers, costing two and even three times the Vivid’s price, that can do one or two of the things the G1 Giya do so well. But I can’t think of any speaker I’ve auditioned that does everything as well as the Giyas: superb imaging, unmatched dynamic range, holographic soundstaging, and that immutable, possibly unquantifiable quality known as musicality.
Is Vivid Audio’s G1 Giya the best loudspeaker I’ve ever heard ? Yes. And it will be my yardstick from now on. Whether or not you can afford a pair, you should listen to them so that you know exactly what is possible in a high-end loudspeaker.”
- Stereophile, Wes Phillips, July 2010
“…it is the Giya’s sound that steals the show, conveying music with obvious neutrality, an unadorned midrange, quick transients, and deep, powerful low frequencies.”
- The Audio Beat, Marc Mickelson, February 2010
“Its hard to stress just how well the Giya G1 addresses the problems that usually afflict loudspeakers, it manages to seemingly eliminate perceived distortion and reveal the msuic in all its dynamic, tonal and temporal glory.”
“The incredible resolution of low-level detail means that harmonics, reverb, imaging and all manner of detail are brought to the fore.”
- HiFi+ (UK), Jason Kennedy, issue 70

G1 Giya was awarded the Stereo Sound Grand Prix 2008 at the annual competition held by the “STEREO SOUND”, which is the most authoritative audio magazine in Asia. (The prize was once given to K-1).
On top of that, G1 Giya won the “GOLDEN SOUND” prize, which is given only to the best of the Grand Prix winners.
The best twenty models of the audio equipments introduced in the past year are selected as the Grand Prix winners by seven-member selection committee of expert writers and editors of the Stereo Sound.
